Introduction
My name is Frank Green and this blog is dedicated to my West Virginia and Western Virginia ancestors. This is my heritage through my mother's family. The names include Jones, Wirt, Holmes, Harvey, Farley, McCallister,Swope,Comer and Miller.
They are English, German, Scots-Irish, Native American and possibly Melungeon in origin.
My mother's name was Betty Ann Jones. She married my father John Franklin Green on December 20,1957 in Orlando Florida and became Betty Ann Green. She was born January 1, 1937 in Beckley West Virginia and moved to Florida when she was in her late teens. Her parents were John Henry Jones and Eula Eliza Holmes. This blog will tell about my grandparents ancestry. This will be a good way to share the information that I have with my cousins who live in different parts of the country.
It will also be a good way of sharing the photos that I have of my mom's family. I would like to thank Billy Rowe for copying my mom's photo collection.
This will contain information that I have acumulated over the past ten years or so.
Some of my sources are Dona Zimmerman, Betty Green, the late Eula Holmes Jones and Mildred Holmes. I also got information from the Virginia State Library, the National Archives and the Mercer County Courts.
