Nancy Adeline Farley (Harvey)

This is a photo of my Great-Great mother Nancy Adeline Farley Harvey. Family tradition says that she was a full blooded Cherokee Indian. So far I have not found any documentation of this fact. However it is obvious that she is not of Anglo-Saxon or European Heritage. I have also considered the possibility of her being Melungeon. The Melungeon people were known to be in the Mercer County West Virginia area. This is where Adeline lived.

Nancy Adeline Farley Harvey was my great grandmother. I also, heard tales of her being Indian. I was told that she had been orphaned and that the Farley family had "adopted" her. I have done a DNA test, but did not show any Indian DNA. But I have since learned that Indian nations have been told NOT to submit any DNA in researches which could be the reason that no Indian DNA didn't "show up".
My grandmother was her daughter Elizabeth Ann Harvey (HOlmes). My mother spent a lot of time with her and was truly distraught when she "passed" on.
